What the press says about Viking Yacht Cruises over the years

“Vikings” was first established in 1959 and evolved through the years as Student Unions representatives, as organizers of the famous 5-day Tour to Greece by coach, continued for many years with scheduled Yacht Cruises to the Greek Islands with our own yachts, as Student Groups Tour Operator and more.

Today as Vikings Navita IKE,  is run by the second generation, always with the same interest and respect towards our clientele. Company’s main target is to deliver quality services that meet clients’ needs and expectations.

We focus on Yacht Cruises, Theme Tours, and Study Tours for Colleges, Universities, and Alumni, in Greece and Europe.

…Viking Yacht Cruises’ 13-night Magnificent Greece combines a seven-day cruise of the Aegean with seven days touring Athens and major archaeological sites. On a round-trip sailing from Athens, the 40-passenger yacht stops at the islands of Santorini, Mykonos, Delos, Páros, Kíthnos, Syros, and Naxos. GREEK ISLES

…Scattered across the Aegean and Ionian Seas, the islands of Greece have thousand-year old monuments and ruins and a range of landscapes from the lush vegetation of Corfu in the west to harsh scrublands on islands near the Turkish coast.

“You go from busy Athens to a small island where you haveto climb a hill to enter a stone-walled city” says Cindy Beach who took a recent Seabourn cruise.

“Locals might get their groceries by donkey or horse. It’s right out of a fairy tall.

Small ship advantages: Squeezing through the Corinth Canal, a shallow waterway that links the Aegean and the Ionian Seas…

The seven-day “Discovery Cruise” to Mykonos, Santorini and the Cyclades … The cruise is informal with no dress code. The average cruising time is four to five hours a day. Favorite college towns, the Balkans, bargain-shopping in Paris, biking vacations, restaurants around Times Square and more.

Washington, DC: My husband and I are interested in taking, small, casual-style cruises… We’d love to go to Greece but almost anything on a tall ship with a fun, laid back atmosphere would be great and we’re happy to explore new places! Thanks for the help.

Carol Sottili: … As for Greece, try Peter Deilmann (www. deilmann-cruises. com) or Swan Hellenic (www. swan-hellenic. com). Or you could always do a yacht cruise – lots of private yachts for hire in Greece (try www.vikings.gr).

COSMOPOLITAN,

Greek Island Odyssey

Since I’d read John Wilcock’s Greece on $10 and $15 a Day- about an unusual tour company called Vikings, my first stop was the Viking office just off Syntagma Square in the heart of the city. The company specializes in @do-as-you-like@ trips, which are perfect for the single woman who’s eager to experience Greece, meet interesting people, and avoid most of the tourist herd. And Vikings prices are excellent.

Greece on $30 a Day

…D. Cocconi and the staff of Viking Tours have assisted Frommer reader for years by providing friendly advice, reliable information and excellent budget tours of archaeological sites on the Greek mainland and the Peloponnese, and Cyclades yacht cruises….

…A luxurious and convenient way of seeing the best of the Cyclades is with Viking Tour’s seven-day yacht cruise. Their yachts ply the Aegean waters, calling at Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon, Kythnos, Serifos, Ios, Santorini, Paros, Naxos, Delos, Mykonos, and Tinos. We found it great fun, relaxing, informative, delicious, and a wonderful way to make new friends. You don’t have to worry about hotel reservations, ferry connections, or life in general, an the gourmet three stars meals are among the best in all of Greece. It’s an excellent introduction to Greece’s most famous islands at a price far below what comparable companies offer: sleeping accommodations, breakfast and lunch, transfers and an extremely capable English-speaking guide ( they really know the islands! )…

THE BUFFALO NEWS – THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE THE MIAMI HERALD,

You Needn’t Be an Onassis for Greek Yachting Enrichment

After a three-day stay in Athens, I sailed again -this time on the Viking of Kos – to Mykonos ( the jet-set isle) which is perhaps most popular of all with its excellent shopping, especially for silver and gold-threaded caftan, pottery and jewellery. It’s what most visitors imagine s sleepy Greek Island to be, with more than 300 whitewashed churches, windmills and easygoing inhabitants.

Then it was on to Delos ( Apollo’s birthplace ), Santorini ( the lost Atlantis? ), Naxos ( Ariadne’s Isle), Ios and Paros. And I was forever hooked-on Greece, its islands and budget yachting.

…do this by using the facilities of Viking’s…the 5-day “Do-As-You-Like” tour to Thebes, Delphi, Olympia ( the most superb site in Greece), Tripolis. Argos, Epidayros, Mycenae, Corinth and Eleysis…

…It’s an unparalleled value, the likes of which is offered in no other European country…

Our cruise ended with a long ferry ride from Tinos back to Piraeus. At departure, we had wondered if the cruise tab, just under $600 a piece, wasn’t a bit extravagant. But a week later, well-tanned, and with a score of new friends, we agreed it was money well spent. The entire voyage was thrilling, and the islands were, and are, beautiful.
