THE 7-DAY ATHENS AND Day 1 -Athens, at leisure. Overnight in Athens. Day 2 -Start the 4-day Classical tour by coach.Visit CORINTH-EPIDAURUS-MYCAENE and OLYMPIA.The drive starts from Athens along the coast,passing by Corinth Canal and continue to Epidaurus.In the hinterland of Epidaurus was the Temple of Asclepius.the God’’s head physician of antiquity and most importantly healing centre throughout the Greek and Roman world.Considered by all Greeks the place where medicine was born.The Theatre of Epidaurus has a capacity of 12000 spectators and known for its exceptional acoustics.Short stop to NAUPLIA the first capital of Greece in 1829.Continue for MYCENAE the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon and the most important centre of the Late Bronze Age in Greece.Depart for OLYMPIA.Overnight. Day 3 -OLYMPIA-PATRAS-DELPHI.Olympia here were born the greatest games of ancient Greece the Olympic Games which were held every four years in honor of Zeus.The beginnings of worship and fabulous competitions that took place in Olympia is lost in depths of centuries.Visit the archeological site and the Museum.After the visit the tour continues to PATRAS RION and across the channel to ANTIRRION on the new suspended bridge considered the longest and most modern in Europe.Passing thrue NAFPAKTOS and continue to DELPHI.Overnight. Day 4 –DELPHI-METEORA-Delphi was regarded as the centre of the world.According to Mythology it is here that the two eagles sent out by Zeus from the ends of the universe to find the navel of the world met.It was also seat of the Pythinian Games.the second most important games in Greece after the Olympics.Visit the Archeological site and the Museum where one can see archeological treasures as the unique bronze statue of the Charioteer dedicated to Apollo.After visit depart for KALAMBAKA.Dinner and overnight. Day 5 -METEORA-Today visit Meteora-a rock community of 24 monasteries,the biggest and most important group of monasteries in Greece after those in Mount Athos.There were no steps and the main access to the monasteries was by means of a net that was hitched over a hook and hoisted up by rope.Monks descended in the nets or on wooden ladders up to 40 m long to the fertile valleys below to grow grapes,corn and potatoes.Unesco characterized the rock monasteries as a unique phenomenon of cultural heritage.Start drive back to Athens passing through THERMOPYLAE(photo stop).Arrive in Athens in the late afternoon.Overnight. Day 6- ATHENS Transfer to Athens International Airport. Day 6-Morning trip to DELOS the sacred island of Apollo, by local excursion boat.The island is known as the mythical birthplace of Apollo and Artemis and is a true open-air museum.Overnight in Mykonos. Day 7-At noon,transfer to the port and embark the highspeed ferry for Piraeus. Arrive Piraeus and transfer to the hotel in Athens.Overnight.
